Much of Isabella's progress in advancing its vision of care is through the generosity of private patrons, through contributions and bequests. Each and every donation makes a difference in the lives of our residents. We are grateful for your support.

Depending on your personal circumstances and how you choose to contribute, your support may also:

  • reduce your immediate taxes,
  • increase cash flow, or
  • reduce the amount of your estate tax.

Ways to reduce estate taxes through planned giving to Isabella

There are several ways you can leave more money to your heirs and provide Isabella with a meaningful legacy as well. We invite you to consider ideas, and recommend that you consult an attorney before you make a decision.

  • Consider leaving Isabella a bequest in your will. You may designate Isabella as the beneficiary of a specific dollar amount, or a particular asset, or a percentage of your estate. Bequests to Isabella are deductible from your gross estate for estate tax purposes. Or you may name Isabella as a contingent beneficiary - a beneficiary of assets remaining in your living trust.
  • Designate Isabella as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. You may name Isabella as a beneficiary of all or part of the proceeds of your individual life insurance policy or a group term policy. Insurance proceeds received by Isabella would be deductible from your gross estate.
  • Name Isabella as beneficiary of your IRAs and other qualified retirement plans. These assets are unusual in that they are taxed twice when left to heirs other than your spouse, so it may be particularly wise tax planning to name Isabella as a beneficiary.
  • Explore ways to provide both for surviving loved ones and Isabella. Giving plans can pay income to surviving loved ones for a lifetime, after which Isabella will receive the remaining principal. Another arrangement allows you to provide income to Isabella for a period of time, after which the principal is passed to your heirs. For more information about financial giving plans, please contact Rocco Meliambro, Vice President of Finance, at (212) 342-9308.
