“I’m a tiger.  Don’t let me in,” says Tai Chi and yoga teacher and Isabella House apartment resident, Pin Pin Su as she grabs the fists of a smiling class member and butts her head against them to demonstrate a Tai Chi position.  “Hold your arms up strong.  Don’t let the tiger in.”

Tai Chi is only one of the many activities at Isabella’s Adult Day Health Care Program that enhance the personalized health care the members receive.

Adults over 18 who are under a doctor’s care and are functionally limited are eligible to join the program.  Currently, ages range from 34 to 105.  Whether it is to exercise one’s body, one’s mind or one’s social skills, or just a chance to get out of the house, the Adult Day Health Care Program has something for everyone.

Exercise classes also include yoga, walking and dancing.  The program offers instruction in a variety of arts, crafts and cooking, and the opportunity to share tips and secrets with new friends.  There’s music, games, health education, discussion groups on poetry and current events and a day of beauty.

Each Friday, the Adult Day Health Care community meets to discuss the program and upcoming events.  There the members vote on the destinations of the many daytrips organized by the staff, and have recently gone to see Repertorio Espanol and The Big Apple Circus.  They also experience events at Radio City Music Hall, concerts at Riverside State Park and go on outings to places like historic City Island.

And let’s not forget the parties.  The program is famous for parties - birthday parties, holiday parties – any reason to celebrate.  And these celebrations are complete with lively entertainment, dancing and of course plenty to eat.

The program is open to residents of northern Manhattan and the southwest Bronx.  Transportation is provided.  Staff is warm, friendly and bilingual, and there is always a nurse on duty.  A full range of nursing services and rehabilitation therapy is provided, and health needs are monitored on a daily basis.

We invite you to spend time with us to experience this spectacular program for yourself.  Please call 212-342-9813 or e-mail info@isabella.org to set up a complimentary visit or for more information.
